The FDA has approved Imfinzi (durvalumab) for new uses in several cancers. Imfinzi is a type of immunotherapy that helps the immune system fight cancer. It is now approved for certain patients with lung cancer, bile duct cancer, liver cancer, endometrial cancer, bladder cancer, and stomach cancer.

For lung cancer, Imfinzi can be used before and after surgery for some patients with early stage disease. It is also approved for advanced lung cancer after chemotherapy and radiation, or in combination with other drugs. For small cell lung cancer, it is approved for both limited and extensive stages.

Other approvals include combinations for bile duct cancer, liver cancer, and certain types of endometrial, bladder, and stomach cancers. These approvals give doctors more treatment choices for these hard to treat cancers.

This approval is based on studies showing that Imfinzi can help some patients live longer or delay cancer growth. However, not everyone will benefit. Patients should talk to their doctor to see if Imfinzi is a good option for their specific cancer type and stage.

What this means for you:
Imfinzi is now approved for more cancers; talk to your doctor to see if it is right for you.
