Most people with pituitary adenomas do not have brain aneurysms. But a new analysis shows these patients have a higher rate of these weak spots in blood vessels than the general public. This matters because finding an aneurysm early can prevent a dangerous burst. The researchers looked at data from many different medical centers to understand this connection better.

When they combined results from 5,264 patients, they found that about 4 percent had an aneurysm. That is higher than the rate seen in people without pituitary tumors. The difference was clear for both men and women. The study also noted that most pituitary tumors were large and did not produce extra hormones.

However, the data was not perfectly consistent across all the studies included. This mix of different results makes it hard to draw a single firm conclusion. The high variation suggests that factors like blood flow pressure and specific tumor location play a role. Doctors should keep this in mind when evaluating patients with these tumors.
