Diabetic kidney disease is a serious complication that can lead to kidney failure. A recent analysis looked at a specific herbal treatment called Jinlida Granule to see if it helps people with this condition. The team reviewed data from 1,341 patients who received this treatment alongside their usual care. They compared these results to patients who did not get the treatment. The findings suggest the medicine may offer real benefits for those struggling with diabetes and kidney issues.
The study showed clear improvements in several important health measures. Patients taking Jinlida Granule had lower levels of serum creatinine, which is a waste product the kidneys should filter out. They also had lower blood urea nitrogen, less protein leaking into urine, and better blood sugar control measured by HbA1c. Lipid profiles and inflammatory markers also improved in the treatment group.
Safety was another major concern for the researchers. The data showed that adverse events did not differ significantly between the groups. This means the treatment appeared safe with a comparable safety profile to standard care. However, the researchers noted that the studies included had moderate to high risk of bias and considerable heterogeneity. This means the results should be interpreted cautiously and not overstated as a guaranteed cure.
