A recent look at Chinese medicine monomers suggests they could be useful for treating gastric cancer. These special compounds work by stopping cancer cells from multiplying and moving around the body. They achieve this by blocking important pathways that cancer cells use to survive and grow.

These medicines also cause cancer cells to die in several different ways. This includes normal cell death, autophagy, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis. By using multiple methods at once, they might be more effective than single drugs used alone.

Another big benefit is that these monomers help standard chemotherapy work better. This means doctors might be able to use lower doses of strong drugs to get the same good results. However, most of this information comes from lab studies, not human trials yet.

Safety looks good so far, but more research is needed. Current reviews often focus on just one thing instead of how these medicines work together. Scientists still need to figure out how to move these promising lab findings into real patient care safely.

What this means for you:
Chinese medicine monomers stop cancer growth and help standard treatments work better, though human trials are still needed.
