Imagine your brain as a muscle that can grow stronger with the right exercise. A new look at 23 international studies asks if yoga acts like that exercise for your mind. These reviews combined data from healthy people to see if yoga changes how your brain looks and works.

The results are promising but messy. The review found that yoga may exert multiple effects on the brain. But the studies were not alike. Some used different types of yoga, while others mixed yoga with meditation. This mix makes it hard to tell exactly what part of the practice helps.

Because the studies varied so much, the evidence is not clear enough to give firm advice yet. We do not know if these changes last long or if they help everyone the same way. Until the research becomes more consistent, treat these findings as a hopeful sign rather than a guaranteed cure.

What this means for you:
Yoga may help the healthy brain, but study differences make the exact benefits unclear.
