Inclusion Criteria
- adult cardiac arrest patient with arterial pH <7.1 or bicarbonate <10mmEq/L checked at 10 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Exclusion Criteria
- age <18 trauma patient Do Not Resuscitate state
