Researchers conducted a study to see if an online coaching model could help people with high blood pressure. They compared a digital program, which used the WeChat platform for chronic disease management, against standard care. The study included 250 middle-aged and elderly patients over a six-month period.
The results showed that patients using the digital coach reported better scores in several areas of self-management. Specifically, those in the digital group showed higher engagement with stretching, strength exercises, and aerobic activities. They also reported better communication with their doctors and fewer cognitive symptoms related to managing their condition.
Because this was a single-center study, the results might not apply to everyone or every clinic. While the trial suggests that adding a digital coaching component can improve how patients manage hypertension, it is still an early finding from one location. You should talk with your doctor about whether these types of digital tools could fit into your specific treatment plan.
