Mazdutide reduces percentage body weight by 12.42% in non-diabetic adults with obesity across five RCTs
This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials evaluated the efficacy of mazdutide for weight reduction in non-diabetic adults aged 18 years or older with obesity. The analysis included five RCTs and assessed percentage body weight as the primary outcome alongside absolute body weight, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL, and adverse events.
Mazdutide significantly reduced percentage body weight with a mean difference of -12.42% (95% CI: -16.15% to -8.68%). Absolute body weight decreased by a mean difference of -9.76 kg (95% CI: -13.15 to -6.37 kg). Waist circumference also significantly reduced with a mean difference of -7.98 cm (95% CI: -10.24 to -5.72 cm).
Metabolic markers showed decreases in systolic blood pressure (mean difference: -7.68 mmHg), total cholesterol (mean difference: -0.57 mmol/L), and LDL (mean difference: -0.37 mmol/L). Adverse events were slightly increased with a relative risk of 1.12. The authors note that findings are limited by the small number of RCTs included in the analysis.
