This study looked at many medicines used for type 2 diabetes. It included over 26,000 adults who took different drugs. The team compared bexagliflozin to other common treatments and a placebo. They checked how well each drug lowered blood sugar and helped patients lose weight.
Results showed bexagliflozin worked very well for lowering blood sugar. Some other drugs lowered it a little more, but bexagliflozin was still very good. For weight loss, bexagliflozin was better than one drug but slightly less effective than another. It worked about the same as most other medicines in this group.
The medicine also helped lower blood pressure. It lowered the top number in blood pressure just like other drugs. It lowered the bottom number better than one specific drug. Safety was also checked carefully. Patients taking bexagliflozin had fewer urinary infections than those taking one other drug. Safety was similar to other medicines and the placebo group.
