Caring for someone with dementia is hard work. Informal caregivers often face confusion when a loved one becomes agitated. They need clear ways to understand these behaviors and choose the right care strategies. A new digital tool aims to help with this challenge.
Researchers developed a structured framework called eDEM-CONNECTONTO. This system organizes complex information into 252 distinct concepts and relationships. It meets the high standards required for medical data systems. This structure allows for the creation of digital tools that can explain agitation patterns clearly.
The team tested how well this framework works in real situations. They found it could be used to build digital support systems for caregivers. These tools might help identify agitation triggers and suggest appropriate responses. While this is a foundation for future technology, it is not a finished app yet. The work focuses on creating a reliable base for better digital helpers.
