Many adults face high blood pressure and extra weight around their waist. These issues raise the risk of heart disease. A large review looked at how different exercise types help. The study included 16 separate research papers involving adults with at least one heart risk factor. The goal was to see if moving the body could lower these dangers.

The review found strong proof that Tai Chi helps. After three months, blood pressure dropped. After six months or more, the drop was even clearer. Waist size also shrank significantly. Total cholesterol levels went down in men and women with high blood pressure. These changes happened when people practiced Tai Chi instead of doing nothing.

Other exercises like high-intensity interval training, resistance training, Yoga, and Qigong did not show clear benefits in this review. The evidence for these activities remains uncertain. The study also noted that it lacked data on people who already had heart disease. Safety was not a concern since no serious side effects were reported.

The most convincing results came from aerobic exercise and Tai Chi. These activities helped lower blood pressure and waist size. If you have heart risks, moving your body might be a powerful tool. However, not every exercise type works the same way for everyone.

What this means for you:
Tai Chi lowers blood pressure and waist size in adults with heart risks, while other exercise types show uncertain benefits.
