This narrative review focuses on building a comprehensive value assessment framework for renal denervation therapy. The work was conducted within the context of Chinese hospitals. The study aimed to create a structured way to evaluate this treatment option before it is widely adopted.

The researchers assigned specific weights to different criteria at the first level of their framework. Efficacy received the highest weight at 23.26 percent, followed by safety at 21.83 percent. Other factors included qualification and suitability at 16.84 percent, patient value at 15.18 percent, and innovation at 10.65 percent. Lower weights were given to management value and cost.

The main reason to be careful is that this work is a framework development rather than a clinical trial. No patient data or specific outcomes were analyzed in this report. The findings support procurement reviews and decisions for RDN devices in Chinese hospitals. Readers should view this as a planning tool for hospital administrators rather than proof of the therapy's effectiveness for individual patients.

What this means for you:
This framework helps Chinese hospitals weigh safety, efficacy, and cost when considering renal denervation therapy.
