Anxiety can feel like a heavy weight on your shoulders. It makes daily tasks harder and drains your energy. A new analysis of many studies offers hope for those struggling with high anxiety or a diagnosed anxiety disorder. The researchers looked at exercise as a way to help without relying on medication.

The study combined data from 1,447 people. These individuals had high anxiety or were diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. They either added exercise to their routine or continued with standard care alone. The results showed that exercise helped reduce anxiety symptoms significantly. The effect was strong and consistent across the different studies included in the review.

Safety was a major concern for the team. No serious side effects or dropouts were reported for the exercise groups. People generally tolerated the activity well. However, the benefit was smaller for those who also had chronic health conditions. The review noted that the types of exercise varied and the follow-up time was only about three months. This means we do not yet know if the benefits last for years.

Exercise appears to be an effective non-pharmacological intervention for alleviating anxiety symptoms. It offers a practical tool for managing stress and worry. While it is not a magic cure, it provides a real path forward for many people seeking relief from anxiety.
