We know the pandemic disrupted everything, including how we track and treat other serious diseases. A new report from health officials gives us a look at tuberculosis cases across the entire United States population for the year 2021. The report itself doesn't say whether the number of TB cases increased or decreased from previous years, or what might have driven any change. It's simply a status check, a single point in time. Without that comparison or deeper analysis, we can't draw conclusions about trends or the pandemic's impact. This kind of data is a necessary first step for public health experts to understand where to look next.
