This review looked at the experiences of people living with post-stroke fatigue (PSF). It also examined how caregivers and healthcare professionals view this condition. The findings show that fatigue is not a simple symptom. Instead, it is multidimensional and influenced by many different factors, including physical health, mental well-being, and daily situations.
One major finding is that current awareness of stroke fatigue among healthcare workers and family members is often low. Because of this, many rehabilitation needs for patients remain unmet. The study suggests that while patients must manage their own energy, they need more support from those around them to cope with the various factors that make fatigue harder to manage.
Because this was a qualitative synthesis rather than a clinical trial, it does not provide specific treatment numbers or proven medical outcomes. It highlights the need for better tools to measure fatigue and more education for staff. Patients should talk to their doctors about how fatigue impacts their daily lives to develop a personalized management plan.
