Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Born 1930 or later
  • Type 1 diabetes
  • Nonproliferative retinopathy
  • Normal serum creatinine
  • Unsatisfactory blood glucose control

Exclusion Criteria

  • Alcohol/drug abuse
  • Proliferative retinopathy
