Researchers analyzed data regarding icotrokinra, a new treatment for people with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. The study included both adolescents aged 12 to 17 and adults over the age of 18. The goal was to see how well the treatment worked compared to a placebo over a 16-week period.
The results showed that patients taking icotrokinra had a much higher likelihood of achieving a low investigator score compared to those taking a placebo. Additionally, the treatment showed a significant improvement in high-level skin clearance, which is defined as at least a 90 percent improvement in the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index.
Safety data indicated that the treatment was well tolerated. The number of side effects and serious adverse events was similar between the group taking icotrokinra and the group taking the placebo. While these results are promising for psoriasis care, the data only covers a 16-week period. Talk to a doctor to see if this treatment fits your specific needs.
