Living with the aftermath of a cancer diagnosis often comes with persistent fatigue and restless nights. For many breast cancer survivors, finding a way to get consistent, high-quality sleep is a major hurdle in their daily recovery.
A review of 31 different trials found that exercise programs can help improve sleep quality for these survivors. The data showed that specific types of movement might have even stronger effects. For example, practicing yoga or following a routine of at least 60 minutes per session, three times a week for over 12 weeks, showed significant improvements in sleep.
While the results are encouraging, researchers note that these findings do not yet provide a perfect recipe for everyone. Because the studies did not directly compare different exercise programs against each other, we cannot say exactly which specific routine is the best. However, the data suggests that consistent movement and yoga are promising ways to help survivors rest better.
