Metabolic surgery has emerged as an important therapeutic option for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity and has gained increasing clinical attention in recent years. Ongoing research has expanded the understanding of various surgical techniques and their therapeutic efficacy. Nevertheless, concerns related to postoperative diabetes recurrence and the prevention and management of procedure-related complications continue to constrain the routine application of metabolic surgery in T2DM care.
