Researchers found that these specific areas can influence whether a patient's body responds well to immune checkpoint inhibitors. Because different parts of a tumor have different characteristics, mapping these spaces helps scientists understand why some patients might develop resistance to current therapies.
Because this is a narrative review of existing data rather than a new clinical trial, the findings are not yet ready to change standard medical practice. However, using spatial assays could eventually help doctors pick the right patients for specific treatments and create better combination strategies.
