For pain management after hallux valgus surgery, bupivacaine liposome injectable suspension 266 mg significantly reduced NRS pain scores and opioid consumption through 96 hours post-surgery compared to placebo (p<0.00001 for both), and increased the proportion of opioid-free subjects (33.3% vs 4.5%, p=0.0003) 2. Tapentadol IR 50 mg also demonstrated significant pain relief, with superior Sum of Pain Intensity Difference (SPID) over 48 hours versus placebo in multiple phase 3 trials (p<0.001 to p=0.006) 346. Response rates for ≥30% and ≥50% pain reduction were significantly higher with tapentadol 34.
