Hypoglycemia: what the trials found

Dasiglucagon has been shown to significantly improve the speed and magnitude of glucose recovery following a hypoglycemic event. Trials demonstrated significant reductions in time to plasma glucose recovery [6, 11, 12] and significant increases in both the amount of plasma glucose recovered and the total change from baseline [6, 11, 12].

Nasal glucagon administration is associated with high rates of patients awakening or returning to a normal status within 30 minutes following administration [14, 15].

The addition of glucomannan was associated with a statistically significant reduction in blood glucose levels during mixed meal testing (p=0.0156), though it did not significantly change the percentage of time spent in a hypoglycemic state (p=0.99) 5.

Combination therapy of vildagliptin and metformin resulted in 100% of patients achieving a decrease of at least 0.3% in HbA1c over 12 weeks, with no significant difference in glycemic variability (MAGE) between groups 4.
