Colonoscopy: what the trials found

Several bowel preparation regimens have been evaluated for efficacy in colonoscopy. BLI800 demonstrated significant success in bowel cleansing, with a higher percentage of patients achieving successful preparation compared to a control group (p=0.038) ²⁰. BLI4700 also showed significant results in successful bowel cleansing across multiple trials [11, 15, 21, 22]. Other preparations, including PEG-3350 based regimens ¹³, PEG-ELS ¹⁶, and PICOPREP ¹⁸, were also evaluated for successful bowel cleansing or completion of the colonoscopy examination.

Lubiprostone was shown to improve endoscopist evaluation of colon cleanliness compared to placebo (p=0.05) and significantly improved the tolerability of the colon cleansing regimen (p=<0.05) while reducing the required volume of PEG ². The SUPREP Bowel Prep Kit showed a 95% success rate for 'good' or 'excellent' preparation ⁶. Additionally, a PEG electrolyte lavage solution with bisacodyl reformulation showed a statistically significant improvement in successful preparations (p=0.005) ⁹.
