Newer clinical evidence demonstrates that BI 10773 significantly reduces HbA1c levels in patients with mild or moderate renal impairment compared to placebo (p<0.0001) 5. Specifically, significant reductions were observed in both the mild renal impairment subgroup (p<0.0001) and the moderate renal impairment subgroup (p<0.0001) 5.

Canagliflozin has been shown to significantly reduce Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) from baseline at week 26 (p=0.021) 6. While Canagliflozin also resulted in a statistically significant reduction in HbA1c at week 26 compared to placebo (p=0.012), the difference in the percentage of patients achieving an HbA1c <7% at week 26 did not reach statistical significance (p=0.227) 6.
