Bacterial pneumonia: what the trials found

Several agents have been evaluated for the treatment of bacterial pneumonia. Imipenem demonstrated a significant reduction in all-cause mortality at day 28 compared to the comparator (15.9% vs. 21.3%, p<0.001) and a significantly higher rate of favorable clinical response at early follow-up (61.0% vs. 55.8%, p<0.001) 3. Omadacycline showed high rates of clinical response, with approximately 87.7% to 95.9% of patients achieving an investigator's assessment of clinical response at various evaluation points 5.

Other established interventions include Ceftaroline [1, 8, 9], Omadacycline 2, ampicillin sodium/sulbactam sodium 7, Telavancin [10, 11], and Nemonoxacin 6.
