Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma: what the trials found

Clinical evidence for Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma includes evaluations of several targeted and systemic therapies. Sorafenib Tosylate was evaluated in a large Phase 3 trial, where Disease-free Survival (DFS) showed no statistically significant difference between groups (5.8; 6.1; 6.6; p=0.80) 2. Additionally, Sorafenib Tosylate was assessed regarding Grade 3-4 adverse events in a Phase 2 study 19.

Pazopanib hydrochloride has been evaluated in two separate Phase 2 trials as an established intervention for this condition [8, 14]. Furthermore, 89Zr-girentuximab was evaluated in a Phase 3 trial 1.

Recent results — preliminary, needs further review

  • Nivolumab (Phase 2) 3
  • MK-3795 (Phase 2) 4
  • X4P-001 (Phase 2) 5
  • Retifanlimab (Phase 2) 7
  • IL-2 (Phase 2) 9

For the clinician treating this condition

  • Sorafenib Tosylate demonstrated no statistically significant difference in Disease-free Survival (DFS) in Phase 3 trials 2.
  • Cabozantinib S-malate showed a statistically significant improvement in Progression Free Survival (PFS) compared to the control group 13.
  • Bevacizumab showed a statistically significant difference in Objective Response Rate (ORR) during evaluation 21.
