Pancreatic adenocarcinoma: what the trials found

Several chemotherapeutic agents have been evaluated for pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Capecitabine demonstrated comparable overall survival rates in both Phase II and Phase III assessments (p=0.62, p=0.38) 4. Gemcitabine was also studied, showing no significant difference in overall survival (p=0.72) or progression-free survival (p=0.91), while objective response rates varied across study arms (p=0.28) 15.

Fluorouracil has been evaluated in multiple trials; results showed no statistically significant difference in overall survival (p=0.15) 14, and a 42% R0 resection rate was observed at the two-year mark with an overall survival rate of 79% at one year 17. Nab-paclitaxel demonstrated varying objective response rates across different study groups, but showed consistent disease control in several cohorts (ranging from 55.6% to 81.3%) 7.

The EndoTAG-1 regimen did not show statistically significant differences in overall survival (p=0.6647), progression-free survival (p=0.4345), or objective response rates (p=0.2632) 6. Additionally, the use of eryaspase has been established in clinical trials for this condition 5.
