Community-Acquired Pneumonia: what the trials found

Lefamulin has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) with sample sizes of 551 and 738 patients respectively [2, 3].

Omadacycline was evaluated in Phase 3 trials involving 670 participants. Results showed high rates of early clinical response at the ECR visit (89.6% vs 87.7% for active arms; 1.8% to 9.3% for placebo/comparator arms) and post-therapy evaluation (PTE) 4. In the clinically evaluable population, omadacycline demonstrated a clinical response rate of 94.1% and 95.9% at the PTE visit compared to 0% to 5.9% in comparison groups 4. Omadacycline was also evaluated in a Phase 1 trial involving 18 participants 7.
